Imclone
Branchburg, NJ
Imclone’s BB50 facility is the main manufacturing facility in the world for their breakthrough cancer fighting drug ERBITUX. This 180,000 SF state of the art processing facility required heavy coordination of multiple contractors and work disciplines.
To alleviate the coordination pressures of such a complex facility, the management firm of Aker/Kvaerner decided to break out the entire interiors portion of the work for award to one contractor. This package consisted of all drywall walls and ceilings, acoustical ceilings, millwork, painting, flooring,
miscellaneous metals, doors/frames/hardware, wall protection, toilet partitions and accessories and various
miscellaneous items.
The bulk of the $11 million interior package consisted of
drywall, acoustical ceilings and millwork items. These
items had a significant impact on the project schedule, and due
to the ability and experience of Epic Interiors, we were able to
provide the owner with the quality and satisfaction desired. The further ability of Epic to utilize our in house network of General Contracting personnel allowed us the flexibility and experience to make the entire package work.
There were many obstacles to overcome, one of which was the
requirement for a sterile work environment. After
containment vessels which penetrated floor decks were installed,
drywall and stainless steel soffits were used to close off the
plenum spaces. This was a challenging, but successful, project that
has resulted in Epic's continued and expanded role with Imclone.
