Rutgers Stadium Expansion
Rutgers Stadium expansion moving fast toward September 7, 2009 Season Opener! When Rutgers University Scarlet Knights Football Team takes the field at home in Piscataway on Monday September 7, 2009 to take on the defending Big East Champion Cincinnati Bearcats, they will do so in front of an anticipated sell out crowd of 52,600…an increase of 12,350 seats from the 2007 season. Epic is pleased to have represented Rutgers University as the Owner’s Representative on Phases I and II of the Stadium expansion program. In 2009, the formerly open end zone has been filled in to create a full enclosed stadium, thereby alleviating the extensive waiting list for fans hoping to obtain season/game day tickets. In time for the 2008 season, Phase 1 was completed with 1000 new seats being made available through the creation of the Club Level, whose amenities include heated exterior seating, 2 full service bars, buffet stations, the President’s Lounge, fully conditioned and enclosed viewing areas including 74 big screen televisions all which creates a truly great environment to enjoy all the excitement of RU Football. The total program cost are in excess of $100 million, and required a significant collaborative effort by Rutgers staff (both Facilities and Athletics), Epic Management, and Populous Architects in association with NK Architects to continually evaluate the project to an acceptable budget while respecting the University’s goals. This has been an outstanding opportunity for Epic and one of which we are most proud.

TCO received at the new Union City High School!
On May 26, 2009, a Temporary Certificate of Occupancy was granted in the Union City Building Department for the new Union City High School. With this, the Union City Board of Education can now begin the exciting process of moving into the new 360,000 sq. ft. facility, that will combine the two existing high schools into one beginning with the September 2009 school year. This also marks the culmination of the nearly six year relationship between Epic Management, the New Jersey Schools Development Authority, the Union City Redevelopment Authority, the Union City Board of Education, and RSC/HOK Architects. Through the combined efforts of the entire team, the project is a success! We believe that is the first high school in the United States - and most certain the first in New Jersey to include a regulation size synthetic playing field on the roof… 40 ft. above grade. This creative thinking saved over 1000 families from being displaced while providing an economical and imaginative solution to the challenge of how to replace the old Roosevelt High School stadium athletic field. We have added some photos of the nearly finished product. Look for news as a formal dedication will be coming in the next several months.
