Roosevelt Care Center
Old Bridge, NJ
Housing
Client: County of Middlesex
Project: Roosevelt Care Center
Epic’s Role: Construction Manager/ Advisor
Construction Costs: $32 million
The construction of the Roosevelt Care Center at Old Bridge marks the second phase of the renewal of Middlesex County’s nursing care system. Consisting of 180 licensed long‐term care beds, the four‐story, 104,000 sf facility contains a 30‐bed sub‐acute wing, 30‐bed dementia care unit and two 60‐bed floors of nursing care beds. Supplementing the long‐term care beds is a full array of social and common activity spaces including library, coffee shop, multi‐purpose theater, living and exercise rooms.
This long‐term care center is a Gold LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified building – the first designation of its kind for a long-term care facility in New Jersey. Roosevelt’s measures for meeting Gold LEED certification standards included:
- More than 50 percent of construction waste was recycled and diverted from landfills.
- An irrigation system was designed to save more than 63 percent of potable water usage. · Insulated solar reflecting glass in windows and solar reflective shingles add to an already highly efficient HVAC system.
- Many of the building’s components were regionally harvested and manufactured and made up of recycled materials.
- Outdoor ventilation monitoring and building materials that are virtually contaminant-free contribute to the building’s superior indoor air quality. · Task and ambient lighting installation allows for higher levels of control, while minimizing energy usage.
