Designed by BKSK Architects, the 16,000 sq. ft. facility will replace the original 1913 firehouse with a modern, sustainable, and resilient station. The new two-story, state-of-the-art firehouse will feature drive-through apparatus bays, modern living quarters and energy-efficient systems designed to achieve LEED Gold certification.
Resilient design features include flood protection, a raised standby generator, solar hot-water panels, and a green roof system. The station’s design also integrates public art and community-oriented elements that reflect the character of Rockaway Park.
Epic is serving as Construction Manager for the NYC Department of Design and Construction on this important project for the Rockaway community.
