Project: New Community Gym at Weequahic High School

Construction Costs: $10.6 million
This project consisted of a gymnasium addition to the Weequahic High School in Newark, New Jersey. The 38,000 sf addition contains a 16,000 sf gymnasium with three full sized basketball courts and bleacher seating for 3,000. There is also a locker room suite which included locker rooms shower rooms, team rooms and coaches’ offices. Other amenities include a weight room, multi-purpose room, restrooms, etc.
The building envelope consists primarily of a structural steel frame with both load bearing and non- load bearing masonry walls. The locker room suite has a precast concrete plank roof structure.
